Newspapers & Education (NIE)

We are well underway this term. So far we have visited APN Print and BOP Times which has given D3 inspiration and insight into what it takes to create a daily newspaper.

D3 also participated in the 'Deadline Game'. This game required them to create a newspaper with the most current and up to date news available, working within a 90 minute time frame. It was a fun and stressful activity that demonstrated the every day demands a newspaper faces.

Currently D3 has been split up into 7 newspaper teams. Each team is responsible for producing the front page of a newspaper. I am sure the children have shared by now some of their ideas and the strict guidelines that they must do. This will not be an easy challenge, however the end product will be an amazing piece of collaborative work that they can submit to APN Print. Yes it is true, there are several great prizes including $1000, gadgets & gizmos and lots of other fantastic things that the kids are excited about.
